Editor's Phil & Teds Verve Review:
Phil & Teds newest family addition is the Verve Stroller. This is pretty much a newer, sleeker, four wheel version of the Phil & Teds Vibe. Stand out features include:
- Reclining toddler seat
- Folds in one piece
- Excellent maneuverability
- Can use travel system and double kit simultaneously
- Easily adjustable harness
- Large comfortable seating
- Hand brake
While not everybody will be happy with the new Phil & Ted’s Verve due to some cons found in our review:
- Double kit hood must be removed before folding
- Front wheels are not quick release
- Basket space becomes limited in double mode
- An older double kit rider is able to press on the front wheels through the under seat basket.
In all the four wheels do provide extra stability which really comes into play once you add the in-line double kit and load it up with all your gear. Front wheel suspension does a great job of dampening general road /urban terrain but tends to fall short when taken on the trail. For most, this is a great all around option, especially with two kids. For those looking to venture of the beaten path, you may want to consider other models like the Mountain Buggy or the Classic Phil & Teds Stroller.
Straight out of the box you’ll find the Verve has a ton of bells and whistles all of which serve a good purpose. Expect to spend some time adjusting all these features and the five point harness. Once adjusted for your child, not much changes during day to day use. Just be prepared to spend some time adjusting or better yet, ask the store to do it for you!
The hood and canopy are extra large and fully adjustable. Whether it’s raining or shining down hard, the Verve stroller’s canopy can handle it. Adjustability allows you to “Follow the sun” and ensure your child is fully protected at all times.
Folding is quick and easy and compacts to a nice package easy to store and carry. Smart design allows the Phil & Teds Verve to be folded without removing the doubles seat, which is a huge plus! Folding locks snap secure and are made out of high quality anodized aluminum, making for very reliable system.
Summary:
If you’ve got the cash, around $800 retail, buy it. The Phil & Teds Verve Stroller offers smooth operation, great handling, and adjustability and build quality that will endure your regular abuse. This is a real contender and great option for expanding families and people serious about quality and style.
