Editor's Phil and Teds (Phil&Teds) Sport Review:
Dubbed by Phil & Teds as being "Rugged. Reliable and Radical" the Phil & Teds Sport stroller builds on all of the Classics features. First off you'll appreciate the Sports good looks and color choices. At the time this article was written, the Sport is available in over 7 color combinations. This highly maneuverable, three wheel stroller is built to handle all of your child rearing requirement from newborn to age 5 or when your child hits the 55lb mark, which ever comes first.
The handlebar on the Sport stroller has multiple positions, not limiting the options with only two positions like the Classic. The front wheel can be locked into the fixed position or disengaged for full swivel to navigate tight turns. Air filled tires offer a smooth ride and their large size allow you to travel over rough terrain with ease. Again, no suspension on these wheels. Wheel's offer a quick release function, great for travel or when storing the stroller in tight spaces. Keep in mind that this isn't an umbrella stroller and even though small, takes up a bit of room when folded. Folding is quick and easy and takes place as one unit. There is no need to remove a bassinet etc, like required of the Bugaboo and other models.
You'll enjoy 4 positions seating on the Phil & Teds Sport, allowing transition from upright to completely flat reclines, ideal for nap time. A bumper bar helps keep you child contained and is an additional feature not found in the Classic model. A five point harness comes standard on this stroller and ensures compete safety and restraint. There's ample room on these straps to accommodate your child's growth.
Given the extra features of bumper bar and fully adjustable handlebar, the Phil and Teds Sport actually comes in 1lb under the Classics weight at 23lbs, average for most strollers in this class. We wish Phil & Teds would consider and aluminum frame to shave some weight.
The Sport also accommodates the doubles kit allowing you to carry a toddler and newborn or two toddlers in the same stroller, in line. By having this feature and allowing inline carrying, you don't alter the width of the overall stroller, like most doubles strollers on the market. Keep in mind that the Phil & Teds Sport faces you child forward and doesn't allow you have your child facing you.
The seat material is made from a very rugged nylon which will withstand many years of abuse without failure. The fabric can be removed and is completely washable. You'll find no shortage of available accessories including cup holders, UV Shades, Storm cover and the list goes on and on. The Sport boasts a closable flap to keep watch on your little one.
Consider the Phil & Teds Sport if you plan to carry two children (Doubles adapter option shown in picture), are fashion conscience and want a true go-anywhere stroller with all the bells and whistles.
