Editor's Phil and Teds (Phil&Teds) Hammerhead Review:
The Hammerhead is Phil & Teds newest variation of the Classic, with its most noticeable difference being the addition of one wheel in the front. Now offering 2 front wheels, the Hammerhead Stroller promises to offer more stability over uneven terrain, even though we haven't heard of many complaints from the 3 wheel models. Even thought the 4th wheel may add stability, it also adds weight. Where the Phil and Teds Classic come in at around 25lbs, expect the Hammerhead to come in closer to the 30lb mark. Arguments can be made that the extra wheel also ups the carrying capacity by a few pounds, which may come into play when carrying two children with the Doubles Kit of older age.
The Front wheels lock or swivel based on the users preference, with the swivel position obviously advantageous in tight spaces. You'll also appreciate additional controls at your fingertips, like hand actuated folding mechanism as well as hand activated brake. Other than that, you'll realize all the other Phil & Ted's stroller benefits. The new Hammerhead isn't a big step forward and we're still a little confused on the thinking behind adding another wheel. Unless you're really intent on having a 4 wheel stroller, we'd suggest the Phil & Teds Classic, Dash, Sport or Vibe.
