Editor's Mutsy Spider Stroller Review:

With three wheel strollers being the latest rage, Mutsy enters the space with the Spider Stroller. Three wheel designs have multiple benefits including greater maneuverability, reduced weight and a higher seating position. Disadvantages usually include less stability, but his isn't the case with the Mutsy Spider. The rear wheels are positioned very wide apart offering very secure stability. The Spider also folds down very compact, more so than most umbrella strollers, making it great for parents on the go. The Spiders overall design is unlike any other affording unique features and a distinctive look and available in over 6 colors.

The Mutsy brand has been know for stylish & unique design and the Spider does a great job of continuing that heritage. The one piece handlebar is adjustable and can accommodate users of various heights and stride lengths. The handlebar is covered in foam and provided comfortable extended range use. The handlebars can also be set on a very low setting making it possible for younger siblings to push the Spider, this is very well thought out and appreciated stroller feature.

Canopy size on the Spider is adequate but depending on your child's tolerance to the elements, may require the purchase of a canopy extension. Canopy height offers generous clearance for taller children. Children of various sizes will also appreciate the 2-position adjustable footrest for added customization. The Mutsy Spider also features a very unique headrest that is separate from the seat and provides a lot of airflow, great for hotter or more humid climates.

The Spiders safety features include a five point harness, dual linked rear brakes, wide rear wheels and high ride height. The higher ride height keeps your child well above threats like overly rambunctious dogs and out of harms way from vehicle exhaust. The strollers ride height also puts you closer to your child, decreasing the need to constantly bend over to see your child and proved to be a real back saver.

Lack of suspension and hard rubber wheels can make for a rough ride over uneven terrain. For this reason, the Mutsy Spider is best used on smooth surfaces or urban environments. The storage basket underneath was very small and didn't allow for much storage on shopping trips. Considering the Spider design allows for very excellent maneuverability in tight spaces, like malls, we wish the storage was more adequate to accommodate.

The Mutsy Spider Strollers compact fold is among its best features. It essentially folds into 1/3 of its stand-up size.  Complete folded size is considered carry-on and another great reason to take it on your next vacation. Keep in mind that at 20lbs it's not the lightest umbrella stroller on the market but we believe the additional features afforded by weight make up for this. Unique design, compact fold and attractive features make this a great alternative the Maclaren stroller.
