Editor's Mountain Buggy Urban Stroller Review:
Considered the HumVee of the stroller world the Mountain Buggy Urban stroller is an amazing product. Overall design is very simple and rugged and lends itself well to parents who want to be prepared for the anything there travels dish out. With its aggressive tread, large air-filled tires and solid frame it resembles design commonly found in mountain bikes. The Mountain Buggy Urban stroller truly is a go-anywhere machine. With infant car seat adapters or optional Carry Cot, plan on using the stroller from newborn all the way through your stroller needs.
Assembly out of the box was very simple involving only a few steps. Upon initial inspection it became clear that the Urban stroller was rock solid. With an unbelievable carrying capacity of 100 lbs! It becomes apparent very quickly that the Urban stroller was over engineered. All this and still coming in at 22lbs, the lightest all terrain stroller in its class, unbelievable!
Three large, 12" air-filled tires and rear suspension help smooth bumps and ensure traction over off-road terrain. The front wheel can be position in locked mode for travel over loose terrain such as gravel or for jogging/running use. In more confined spaces like stores or various urban settings, the front wheel can be unlocked to swivel for tighter turning radiuses. The wheels feature ultra-smooth sealed bearings which allow you to push the Mountain Buggy stroller with one finger. The sealed bearings also prevent any moisture or debris from effecting ride smoothness over time.
Adjustable handlebars accommodate users of various heights with ease. We did find the handlebar to be higher than most at the low setting, which maybe an issue for parents less than 5'4". The Mountain Buggy's water bottle holder and huge under seat storage bin hold everything you might need to make it through your day. The easy care fabric is water repellent and cleans up easily. The Mountain Buggy Urban's seat is adjustable via strap and can be position from upright to nearly flat positions, great for sleeping babies.
The Urban stroller folds compact in half and with its seat in place, via a 2-step process. The actually seat is constructed from water resistant, tough nylon. Even thought the Mountain Buggy doesn't offer suspension, the seats hammock-like properties offer a very smooth ride for its occupants. If you are specifically looking for suspension in an all terrain stroller you may want to take a look at the Bob Revolution stroller. Child comfort and safety are further supported by a five point harness, foot activated breaks and suspending/shock absorbing seat.
The Mountain Buggy Urban stroller is no-nonsense stroller that will be reliable from beginning to end. Its bare-bones looks are actually refreshing and result in total reliability. It has a recognizable style and is available in over 9 colors. The fact that the Mountain Buggy stroller weighs in at only 22lbs and still has an unheard of 100lb capacity, further speaks to its quality. If you want to be prepared for everything from trails to 5th Avenue, be sure to further explore this stroller.
