Editor's MacLaren Techno XLR Review:
At 16.5 LBS the Techno XLR is the heaviest stroller in the MacLaren lineup, but it also boasts the most features. Along with the extendable handles and suspension found in the Techno XT, the XLR adds one hand recline, additional colors, 2 tone harness, increased carrying capacity, Car seat adapter bar and satin finished handle with coordinating buckle.
Most notable is that this is the only MacLaren umbrella stroller that includes a car seat adapter bar. This means that you can drop your infant car seat directly into the Techno XLR and go. MacLarens website states that the car seat adaptor fits "Most major U.S. car seats". This is a great feature when your infant is too small for the harness system or when your baby is sleeping from the car ride and you don't want wake them up placing them into the stroller.
Extendable Handlebars are a great feature for taller users, allowing full height customization and greater comfort. By extending the handlebars, the user also increases the stride clearance, helping avoid accidental stroller kicks during outings.
One of our only complaints about the MacLaren XT was lack of color combinations. For a company that focuses so much on style and customization, the XT is only available in dark color combos. The Techno XLR is quite the opposite, offered in over 8, very different color combinations. A great feature for the style conscious. Carrying capacity is also increased from the Techno XT, from 55 LB to 64 LB, giving a longer span to use the XLR.
Purchase the MacLaren XLR if you're looking for a top of the line, feature packed MacLaren with many color combinations.
