Editor's Maclaren Grand Tour LX Review
Maclarens premium full size luxury stroller is in a class of its own when compared to the rest of the Maclaren buggy fleet. The Grand Tour LX was designed as an all-in-one stroller solution featuring car seat compatibility, removable carry cot, reversible seat and the Grand Tour's ability to fold quickly without need to dissemble anything, unlike the Bugaboo.
Maclaren offers the Grand Tour in two models, including standard Grand Tour and Grand Tour LX. Here's the break down between the two:
Grand Tour LX:
- 5 Point Harness system found on all Maclaren Buggys
- Removable and Washable seat
- Foot operated brake system
- Large Shopping basket under seat
- Light weight aluminum frame construction
- Included Mosquito net and rain cover
- Console
- Soft Carry Cot
- Hood and Bumper Bar
- Storage bag for stroller and wheels
- Cup Holder
- Safety lights to illuminate the strollers path
- Suspension
- Front and rear facing seat
- Adjustable height handlebar
From the above features there a few that may require additional descriptions, including:
Grand Tour Console: Boasts some electronics to track distance and time traveled (Dubbed the Strollometer), outside temperature, on/off switches for safety light. You'll also find plenty of accessories for the Grand Tour and the list keeps growing!
Everything else above is pretty self explanatory. The console is truly a standout feature. It's a fully integrated system, blending electronic technology with an otherwise very mechanical devise. The Grand Tour is available in over 8 color combinations, fitting right in with other high-end stroller manufactures.
One of the coolest features, alongside the console is the free stand folding system, essentially allowing the stroller to unfold by the push of a button and very smoothly we might add. Folding the Grand Tour stroller back up is very easy and can be done in 5 seconds, staying true to the Maclaren easy fold promise.
Even though you'll find larger wheels on this Maclaren, it's still not a true Jogging stroller like the BOB Ironman and should not be used for running/jogging. If you like feature packed items and you want to own the most technologically advanced stroller on the market, the Maclaren Grand Tour LX is for you. Keep in mind that all these features do add to the total weight and bring the stroller in at an approximate 30lbs, making it the true Cadillac of the stroller world.
