Editor's Bugaboo Bee Stroller Review:
Coming in as the entry level Bugaboo, the Bee is very different from its Bugaboo Cameleon and Frog siblings in design. If you're looking for an easy travel system that doesn't require two part assembly or breakdown, like the Frog or Cameleon, but want to stay with a Bugaboo brand stroller, the Bee could be for you. It's great for families on the go because it can easily fold and unfold in one piece and stores very compact. One piece fold means less time and less chance of losing components while traveling via plane.
Users pick the Bee over the Frog for several reasons including a very gracious sun canopy which offers much better cover than the Frog or Cameleon. If you live in very sunny climates or spend a lot of time outdoors, this feature will definitely help protect your child. Foldability is also a big difference from other Bugaboo Strollers as the Bee can fold in one piece, not requiring removal of the seat from the frame before doing so. The Bugaboo Frog doesn't offer height adjustable handlebar, while the Bugaboo Bee does. If you're a taller parent over 5'10", this may be a requirement. Another big difference is the huge storage space underneath. All of these features suggest the Bugaboo Bee was designed for quick errands, travel and shopping.
All four foam filled tires are relatively small at 6 inches, so don't expect to use this stroller over too much rugged terrain, like the Cameleon or Frog. For this reason the Bugaboo Bee is best used for sidewalks, city walks and shopping mall use. If using for these areas you will definitely enjoy the built in suspension to handle small bumps along your travels. The small wheels and compact size make it ideal for turning in small spaces and running in and out of shops. Compact design also translates to a very compact profile when folded.
Overall design of the Bugaboo Bee is what we've come to expect from Bugaboo. It's very recognizable, functional and fashionable. Available in over 6 colors and with many optional accessories, you'll have plenty of options to customize your ride. The seat can be positioned forward facing or rear facing depending on your preference. A strong and lightweight aluminum frame allows for seating capacity up to 37.5lbs (On the lighter end) as well as keeping the strollers weight down to 17lbs. We also like the fact that the Bee's seat fully reclines to lay flat.
If you're looking for a full featured stroller, with a recognizable look and not planning to use over tough terrain or snow, you should consider the Bugaboo Bee.
