Editor's BOB Ironman Stroller Review:

The Ironman is a road specific, fine-tuned jogging stroller intended for distance runners looking for minimal resistance and the best road handling design. While the Bob Revolution is more of a high bred between errand hopping and light jogging, the Bob Ironman is a pure long distance running stroller.

Like the SUS D'Lux, the Ironman is meant primarily for pavement or hard back surfaces. If you're looking to run both on-road and off, take a look at the BOB SUS. Completely slick tires make on-road performance top notch and afford less vibration and resistance than the knobby tires found on the Standard SUS. The main difference between the BOB Sport utility stroller and BOB Revolution series is the SUS's permanently fixed front wheel, no swivel option. Even though this makes it ideal for jogging and running, it handles like a freight truck in tight spaces. If you're looking for a mall stroller, be sure check out some of these umbrellas stroller or swiveling front wheel strollers.

Narrow, 16-inch, low-profile, high-pressure tires roll easily and are intended for paved roads. If you're looking for an on/off road Bob Jogging Stroller, be sure to check out the BOB SUS. The BOB Ironman Stroller also features BOB's famous suspension. The suspension has been fined tuned to be stiffer than other BOB Strollers, for better road handling. You'll see many similarities between the BOB SUS and high-end road bikes on today's market. They don't call it the Ironman for nothing.

Bob Ironman User Reviews & Pricing

The folding system is the same as other BOB strollers reviewed and allows for easy collapse with its two-step fold up. Because the Ironman's front wheel doesn't pivot, the profile is larger than the BOB Revolution when folded. Keep in mind you can remove the front wheel, via quick release if storage space is an issue. The seat is constructed from very rugged nylon which along with a tough frame can handle up to a 70lb capacity. A rugged five point harness keeps your child nice and secure. This is an important consideration when running with your child.

The Frame is fabricated out of high strength aluminum alloy, which helps keep the Ironman Stroller down to 21lbs or 1lb lighter than the BOB SUS D'LUX. The ultra padded seat reclines up to 70 degrees, which is very close to lying completely flat. With the ability to keep pace with your jogging speeds, you'll be happy to have a safety wrist strap, parking and hand slowing break as well as padded 5 point harness adjusted by quick/easy to use pull tabs. You'll also appreciate the oversized sun canopy for ample coverage against the elements.

The wheels are constructed from Aluminum rims and Steel spokes and are a gracious 16-inch by 1.5-inch size. Note that the Ironman's wheels are 0.5 inches more narrow than the SUS D'LUX, saving weight and affording less rolling resistance. High-end  wheel bearings ensure minimal resistance. Keep in mind that just like bicycle wheels the BOB Ironman's metal spoke wheels may need professional adjustment over time, no big deal really. The front wheel remains locked in the straight position however can be removed via a quick release tab and requires no tools for removal. A front wheel fender makes sure no water or debris kicks up to your passengers face.

Key Features:

  • Stiffer suspension than other models for better road handling
  • Fine tuned for long distance running
  • Adjustable tracking
  • Fast & Compact folding
  • Padded 5 point harness
  • BOB's most narrow wheels for less running resistance
  • Pull rings for quick harness adjustment
  • Front fender to prevent passenger debris splash

Buy the BOB Ironman if you want a jogging stroller, meant specifically for long distance running on smooth surfaces. Don't buy if you plan to use in tight spaces such as shopping malls or running errands. If you're looking to run on mixed surfaces, we encourage you to take a look at the BOB Sport Utility Stroller (Off Road). If the Ironman is too hardcore for your needs and you want to save some money, be sure to check out the BOB SUS D'LUX.
