Editor's Maclaren Strollers Brand Review:
Get used to seeing this stroller all over town as it's become standard issue for most families on the go and for good reason. The Maclaren excels for quick trips and portability. It folds quickly and opens just the same with the famous Maclaren 5 second fold system. This stroller is in the light weight stroller category and not intended for jogging. Great for most smooth surface use but not intended for too much rough stuff like gravel, snow, dirt etc. If you're wheeling through airports, malls or stores the Maclaren glides effortlessly and smoothly. It's a fashionable stroller available in numerous color combinations and at the average price point of $150 dollars a great addition to any stroller arsenal. This stroller is a great value with a definite degree of pinache.

Looks:
Maclaren strollers come in a variety of colors and patterns including designer patterns by LaCoste, at a premium. If you go the mall, you'll see these everywhere. It's definitely a step up from the standard umbrella stroller with a more robust aluminum frame design, ensuring years of use. The over all design is sleek and minimalistic.
Wheels/Maneuverability:
The Maclaren Mod is best used on smooth surfaces. If you're going to take one stroller shopping in busy stores and tight aisles, this would be a good choice. The wheelbase from front to back is one of the shortest in this category, offering turn on a dime maneuverability. The wheels are made from a high density rubber, which doesn't do much for absorbing shocks, but you likely won't be bringing this stroller off-road anyway. If you're looking for a stroller with good off-road performance, you may want to take a look at the Jogging Strollers section of this site. The bearing in these wheels are top notch, making the ride silky smooth and ultra quiet. There is also no suspension, not an issue in most malls, streets, grocery stores etc. There are no additional wheel options or ability to swap for this stroller, like found in the Bugaboo. All wheels are of the same diameter. Given this stroller's typical smooth surface use, you should see years of life from these wheels.
Storage:
The Maclarens intelligent folding mechanism allows it collapse into a very narrow footprint. Essentially the handle bars fold down to the front wheels, making this stroller very easy to store and transport. There is a handy shoulder strap that presents itself upon folding making the MaClaren easy to carry when not in use.
Seat:
The seat is comprised of washable fabric with minimal padding. The MacLaren offers a five point harness with a unique clip system, offering above normal restraint function. It's an unconventional clip, which works very well, but may require a few runs before getting used to. Despite the lack of padding, tests have shown that children are very comfortable. The Maclaren strollers allow anywhere from 1 seat position to 5 positions, depending on model. This is one of the major differences between the models. None of the Maclaren strollers allow for full, flat recline.
Foldability/Storage:
Buy the Maclaren Mod if you are interested in a very foldable and easy to store stroller. After some practice, we were able to bring the stroller from an open to closed position in under 5 seconds! This comes in real handy when traveling or in a rush. There are essentially three steps to the process: Pull up strap>Step on side foot lever>Fold handlebar towards the front wheels.it's one of the easiest and quickest strollers we've tested. Opening it up is just as easy.
The built in shoulder on the Maclaren makes for easy carrying. The compact folding design should allow for easy storage in most compact or larger vehicles. When folded, the stroller is all in one piece and doesn't require the removal of any parts or wheels, great for checking at the airport gate and ensuring you get your stroller back in one piece.
Handle:
Non adjustable handle should accommodate users from 5 to 6.5' comfortably. Taller users may want to consider a stroller with adjustable handles. The handles proved to be very ergonomic and easy on the hands, wrapped with comfortable foam for prolonged use in hot or cold conditions. The Handle bar is angled back, allowing ample stride clearance for taller users, minimizing the chances of your foot hitting the back wheels or stroller body.
Weight:
Buy a Maclaren if you are looking for an ultra light weight travel system. Starting at 8.8lbs for the Maclaren Volo and ranging up to 16.3lbs for the flagship Maclaren Techno XLR, moving this stroller around should be no problem.
Overall Quality:
Durable, lightweight, compact leave no doubt why these are among mothers most popular strollers. We've had many frequent fliers attest to the durability and commenting on the Maclarens ability to withstand airport abuse. The strong aluminum body and smart design allow Maclaren strollers to hold up to 65lbs, making the strength to weight ratio extremely impressive.
